Activities, Hobbies and Interests

Within the grounds we have an Activities Classroom with a spacious marquee attached. Full heating and lighting has been installed.

Activities are focused on encouraging and promoting a positive approach, providing a safe environment to mix within groups or doing 'your own thing'.

Activities include: painting, clay/model making, arts and crafts, jigsaw puzzles, board games, bingo, videos, writing poetry, knitting, movement to music and an exercise bicycle. We also involve residents in projects; we are currently working on a 3D Solar System model, investigating and learning about the solar system and making and painting paper-maché planets/moons.

We also make our own birthday, Christmas, Easter cards, small gifts and decorations for residents to send to relatives and friends.

Residents are encouraged to become involved in the organisation of birthday parties, summer BBQ parties etc. Residents also help to make their own costumes and the production of photo albums from each event.

All day trips are organised and supervised by our Activities Organiser. They are paid for by ourselves, then reclaimed from the resident’s appointee.
