Facilities and Services

Meals

Meals will be carefully prepared as interesting and varied as possible. Residents are offered choices each day and when necessary, special diets will be catered for. Choices are available at all meal times.

All meals, snacks, supplements and drinks are provided within the fees for service. Special diets are catered for and advice of the dietician is sought where necessary.

Medical Care

Local GP's attend when required; residents may of course retain their own Doctor if this is practical. Community nurses will visit residential care residents when required.

Optician

Appointments are usually made locally, however residents may visit an optician of their choice.

Dentist

Appointments are usually made at the 'Special Needs' clinic within the local Community Hospital. However, residents may visit a dentist of their choice.

Physiotherapy

This is arranged in consultation with their GP.

Chiropody

A private chiropodist visits the Home every six weeks; the current charges are £12-00 for each consultation / treatment. We pay this at the time and reclaim it from the resident's appointee.

Hairdressing

A private hairdresser visits the Home and is charged for separately, although residents are free to go out to a hairdresser if they wish.

Personal Toiletries

Our policy is to purchase toiletries from a local Cash & Carry Store where we can obtain a discount. The toiletries are then supplied to our residents at the same price. At this time we have calculated a monthly charge to each resident of £25-00, which is reclaimed from the resident's appointee. Residents may wish to purchase their own toiletries locally.

Personal Telephones

Residents have access to a public pay phone, which can be connected at several points throughout the Home. Residents having personal mobile phones are acceptable within the Home.

Administration Support

Support is available to the Home and residents who may require a letter to be typed can avail themselves of this service.

Benefits Advice

This is normally handled by the residents Appointee.

Shopping

Where appropriate we encourage residents to go shopping with relatives or a staff member. Where this is difficult we can assist residents by purchasing goods on their behalf, reclaiming the cost from the resident’s appointee.

Arrangements for Pets

As far as is practicable we will try to accommodate the wishes of residents.
